Privacy Policy Terms & Conditions Refund Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sekaira (“Sekaira”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information when you visit https://sekaira.com, create an account, list a server, vote, post in our community forum, leave reviews, purchase featured placement, or otherwise interact with our website and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Sekaira is available to users worldwide. We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with privacy laws that apply to us and to you based on where you live, including (where applicable) the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR, Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), Canada’s PIPEDA and provincial privacy laws, Brazil’s LGPD, and other national or regional data protection frameworks.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

Sekaira operates an online discovery platform for game communities and server listings. We provide search, rankings, voting, reviews, forum discussion, owner tools, and optional paid featured placement. We are a directory and community platform — we do not host game servers or process in-game purchases on your behalf.

For privacy enquiries, contact us at help@sekaira.com.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through:

  • the Sekaira website and authenticated owner or admin areas;
  • account registration, login, email verification, and password reset flows;
  • public voting, review, and forum features;
  • Stripe Checkout for featured listing purchases;
  • transactional email we send to you;
  • our public HTTP API where it relates to identifiable individuals; and
  • our optional Discord community bot, if you choose to join our Discord server.

This policy does not govern third-party game servers, websites linked from listings, Discord Inc., Stripe’s own privacy practices, or other services operated by listing owners. Those parties have their own policies.

2.1 Global availability

The Service is offered internationally. You may access it from most countries, subject to our Terms & Conditions (including restrictions where use would violate export controls, sanctions, or local law). We do not guarantee that the Service is appropriate or lawful in every jurisdiction. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with laws where you are located.

Our operator is based in Australia. Personal information may be processed in Australia and in other countries where we or our service providers operate.

3. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Service.

3.1 Account and profile information

When you register or maintain an account, we may collect:

  • username;
  • email address;
  • password (stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash — we never store plain-text passwords);
  • account role (for example player, owner, moderator, or admin);
  • account status (for example active, pending, suspended, or banned);
  • email verification status and timestamps;
  • last login time; and
  • records relating to account deletion or suspension where applicable.

3.2 Listing and owner information

If you create or manage a server listing, we may collect:

  • server name, description, tags, and metadata;
  • connection details such as hostname, port, and country or region;
  • website, Discord invite, and social links you provide;
  • media you upload (images, banners, or video references);
  • ownership verification records;
  • Discord channel binding details for automated listing updates;
  • vote callback configuration; and
  • owner analytics such as listing views and outbound click counts.

3.3 Voting information

When you vote for a listing, we may collect:

  • the listing voted for and timestamp;
  • your account ID if you are signed in;
  • a one-way hash of your IP address (we do not store raw IP addresses in our vote records);
  • an optional browser fingerprint hash, where used for anti-abuse;
  • an optional in-game player name you submit; and
  • callback or reward delivery metadata where configured by the listing owner.

Voting may be available without an account. In that case we rely on technical identifiers such as hashed IP or fingerprint data to enforce vote intervals and prevent abuse.

3.4 Reviews, forum posts, and other user content

If you post reviews, forum threads, replies, or owner responses, we collect the content you submit, associated timestamps, moderation status, and your account identity. Forum posting generally requires a verified email address unless you are staff.

3.5 Reports, moderation, and security logs

We may process reports about listings, reviews, or users, along with staff moderation actions. For security and abuse prevention we may also store:

  • hashed identifiers related to login attempts;
  • hashed IP data in audit or security logs;
  • action metadata (for example what was changed and when); and
  • records needed to investigate spam, fraud, or policy violations.

3.6 Payment information

If you purchase featured placement, checkout is processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Stripe may collect card details, billing information, device data, and fraud signals according to its own privacy policy.

We may receive and store:

  • Stripe session or payment identifiers;
  • purchase amount, currency, and status;
  • the listing and account associated with the purchase;
  • your email address as supplied to Stripe Checkout; and
  • limited payment metadata needed for receipts, support, and accounting.

3.7 Communications

If you contact us, we collect the information you provide (such as your email address, message content, and any attachments). We also send transactional emails such as verification links and password resets.

3.8 Discord community data

If you join our official Discord server and interact with our Discord bot, we may process your Discord user ID, Discord username snapshot, rules acknowledgment status, and ticket or support messages you submit through bot features. Website accounts and Discord accounts are separate unless you explicitly link them in future features.

3.9 Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage items:

  • Session cookie (sekaira_session) — keeps you signed in; HttpOnly; SameSite=Lax; secure on HTTPS;
  • Device preference cookie (sekaira_device) — remembers mobile or desktop layout preference;
  • Session storage — short-lived UI transition state only; not used for cross-site tracking.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or mainstream analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics) in the core website at the time of this policy. We load fonts from Google Fonts, which may involve your browser contacting Google servers.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential session cookies will prevent login from working properly.

3.10 Information from third parties

We may receive information from:

  • Stripe about payment completion or failure;
  • game server query services used to display player counts or online status;
  • Discord APIs when you configure listing update feeds; and
  • public DNS or website checks during ownership verification.

4. How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • create and manage accounts and authenticate users;
  • display listings, rankings, reviews, and community content;
  • process votes and enforce vote intervals;
  • deliver featured placement you purchase;
  • send transactional emails and respond to support requests;
  • moderate content, enforce our Terms, and protect users;
  • detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
  • generate aggregated or de-identified statistics; and
  • comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

5. Legal bases for processing

Depending on your location and the type of processing, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Contract — to provide the Service you request (accounts, listings, purchases, support);
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the platform, prevent abuse, improve features, and understand aggregated usage, balanced against your rights;
  • Consent — where required (for example optional communications or non-essential cookies if we add them later); and
  • Legal obligation — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and maintain records.

Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, you may have additional rights described in Section 10. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.

6. How we disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers that help us run the Service (for example hosting, email delivery, payment processing via Stripe, and infrastructure monitoring), subject to appropriate safeguards;
  • Listing owners, where you voluntarily submit information through votes (such as an in-game name) or public profile content;
  • Other users, when you post public content such as forum posts, reviews, or listing information;
  • Law enforcement or regulators, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity; and
  • Successors, if our business or assets are transferred, subject to this policy or equivalent protections.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

7. International transfers

Because Sekaira is a global service, your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from countries other than your own, including Australia and countries where our hosting, email, or payment providers operate.

Those countries may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as:

  • standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognised under GDPR/UK GDPR;
  • contractual protections with service providers;
  • data processing agreements; and
  • technical and organisational security measures described in Section 9.

By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed internationally. You may contact us for more information about safeguards relevant to your region.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:

  • while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward;
  • as needed to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or meet legal obligations;
  • for security, audit, and anti-abuse logs for limited periods; and
  • for payment records as required by tax and accounting rules.

Public forum posts, reviews, or listing content may remain visible after account deletion where removal would affect community integrity, unless law or moderation policy requires deletion.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), password hashing, access controls, and monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong unique password and keep it confidential.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. We will honour applicable rights regardless of your country of access, subject to identity verification and legal exceptions.

10.1 Rights available in many regions

Where applicable law grants them, you may have the right to:

  • access personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention needs;
  • request restriction or object to certain processing;
  • receive a portable copy of information you provided (data portability);
  • withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection or privacy regulator.

To exercise these rights, email help@sekaira.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within timeframes required by applicable law (for example 30 days under GDPR, or 45 days under CCPA where applicable).

10.2 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the rights listed above under GDPR or UK GDPR. Our legal bases are set out in Section 5. You may contact your local supervisory authority if you believe we have not addressed your concern. EU users may also use the EU dispute resolution mechanisms available in your country.

10.3 United States — California and other states

California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes requiring an opt-out under CPRA. Other US states (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah) may grant similar rights; contact us to exercise them.

California residents may designate an authorised agent to submit requests on their behalf where permitted by law.

10.4 Australia

If you are in Australia, you may access and correct personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Contact us first at help@sekaira.com. If unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

10.5 Canada

Canadian users may have rights under PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws (for example Quebec’s Law 25). Contact us to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

10.6 Brazil and other regions

If you are in Brazil, you may have rights under the LGPD, including confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymisation, portability, and deletion in certain cases. Users in other countries may have rights under local privacy laws — contact us and we will respond in line with applicable requirements.

11. Marketing

We do not send promotional marketing emails by default. Transactional messages related to your account or purchases may still be sent.

12. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

In some jurisdictions (including parts of the EU/UK), a higher age may apply for consent to online services (often 16, or lower where local law permits). If you are under the age required in your country, you may use the Service only with verifiable parental or guardian consent.

Some games and communities listed on Sekaira may have their own age requirements. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors’ online activity.

13. Third-party links and listing owner services

Listings may link to external websites, Discord servers, or game clients operated by third parties. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before sharing personal information with them.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or email where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
